Freud's Chair
The image shows work selected for the current group show in the Linear Gallery at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham,U.K. The show is entitled 'Interruptions' and explores the idea of collage as a method of questioning mythologies around representation and identity.
This piece of work was made after I attended a recent lecture at Freud's house in London - 'Love, Lust and Longing', in which three contemporary practices were discussed in relation to the psychoanalytical context of the house and its contents.
Each artist spent time within the house and had made work as a personal response to the multiple layers of meaning which animate the collections and the spaces within.
